Terms of service
A clear promise to every family.
These terms apply when someone purchases, participates in, or receives the Dearly Told biography service.

The service
The $249 package includes six guided telephone interviews of up to 25 minutes each, organization of the storyteller’s memories into a biography, private photograph collection, one consolidated revision round, storyteller review and approval, one hardcover book, and a printable gift announcement.
Family Bundle
Previously purchased Family Bundles include the launch package plus three additional hardcover copies for recipients selected by the purchaser. The purchaser must confirm that the storyteller has authorized each recipient to receive the biography. A recipient’s delivery information is used to provide the copy; promotional email or personalized advertising requires the recipient’s separate, optional consent.
Purchaser responsibilities
The purchaser must be at least 18, provide accurate contact and delivery information, have permission to share another person’s contact details, and present the gift before asking Dearly Told to contact the storyteller. The purchaser may suggest topics but does not control what the storyteller discusses or approves.
AI disclosure and recording consent
The interviewer is an AI system and identifies itself as such. Interviews are recorded only after the storyteller gives consent. The storyteller may decline, pause, reschedule, skip a question, or stop participating. If consent is declined, no interview recording should begin.
Accuracy, privacy, and approval
A biography reflects personal memories and may contain honest uncertainty. The storyteller and family are responsible for checking names, dates, captions, and other facts during review. Nothing is treated as final or sent to print until the designated storyteller or authorized reviewer approves it.
Timing
The book follows completed interviews, photograph upload, revisions, and final approval. We estimate delivery within 30 days after final manuscript and photo approval. This is an estimate rather than a guaranteed arrival date. If a specific date is essential, email hello@dearlytoldstories.com before purchasing so we can confirm a timeline for your family.
Acceptable use
Participants may not use the service to impersonate someone, violate privacy, harass or exploit another person, submit material they have no right to use, or request unlawful content. We may pause work when consent, identity, rights, or safety are reasonably in doubt.
Ownership and permission
Families keep ownership of the original stories, photographs, and other materials they provide. They grant Dearly Told permission to process those materials only as reasonably needed to create, review, print, deliver, secure, and support the purchased biography.
Refunds and cancellations
Your purchase includes a 30-day money-back guarantee. Request a full refund for any reason within 30 calendar days of purchase, including if interviews, writing, or printing have begun. The separate Refund Policy is incorporated into these terms and explains later requests and remedies for damaged or incorrect books.
Service limits
Dearly Told is a creative biography service, not a historical verification, legal, medical, archival-preservation, or emergency service. To the extent permitted by law, liability for a claim relating to an order is limited to the amount paid for that order. Nothing here limits rights that cannot legally be limited.
Governing terms
These terms and the laws applicable in New Jersey govern the service, without taking away any mandatory consumer rights that apply where a customer lives. If one part is unenforceable, the remaining terms continue.
